PCA Chesapeake Challenge 40
Registration for this event is online and open at clubregistration.net.
Chesapeake Region invites all of its members and friends to celebrate the 40th annual Chesapeake Challenge, the oldest running PCA multi event weekend, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Frederick, Maryland. For 2009, we are reprising last years highly successful and popular one day format, providing a full Saturday's worth of activities that will offer tremendous value (and a few surprises) for your registration fee- not to mention a chance to make a little history at the very first downtown Chesapeake Challenge.
This year's Challenge Concours dElegance and Car Show will be center stage at Fredericks Everedy Square and Shab Row, a delightfully quaint shopping and dining area in the older section of town just east of Main Street. Challenge concours competitors will stage on the bricks in the Everedy Square area as well as at a canopied parking lot across the street, which promises cool shade and plenty of room. If youve seen the spectacular pictures of the Charlotte Porsche Parade where the cars formed part of the citys backdrop, then hold that thought and think Porsches artfully arrayed at a refurbished historic downtown location within walking distance of bistros, antique dealerships, and unique shops. Check it out on the web at
http://www.everedysquare.com/
Saturday afternoon will find you and your Porsche enjoying Steve
Kinsley's Gimmick Rally, which will wind its way around the delightful
country roads and through the covered bridges of Frederick County on Saturday
afternoon. Chesapeake Gimmick Rallies are like tours with a unique set
of instructions, so all who have enjoyed the region's tours should be
equally thrilled with this event.
The Gimmick Rally will bring everyone back to Fredericks very own downtown winery, Frederick Cellars- only about two blocks north of Everedy Square and Shab Row. Frederick Cellars is a charming rustic winery that offers a varied selection of award winning wines for our sampling. Whether you go on the Gimmick Rally or stay in Frederick for the day to shop and tour the citys interesting history, Frederick Cellars is the perfect location to wind down the days events. Check it out on the web at:

When you arrive, take in the many impressive features of the winery, sample a glass of wine, and then prepare yourself for the third and final event of the evening- a special Tech Quiz entitled Porsche at the Movies.
After the Tech Quiz, enjoy a pleasant evening of socializing and a delicious catered dinner while the scores are tallied. Trophies will follow, and we should conclude an exciting day not later than 8:00 PM! If you are in the mood, jazz aficionados will want to stay for the highly regarded Josh Walker Duo playing in the Cellars from 8:00-10:00 PM.
The cost for all of this fun? Why $40 of course! Just $40 buys you three great events, the opportunity to enjoy downtown Frederick, and to spend a lovely fall day with some of your favorite Porsche friends. Due to the state of the economy, weve worked hard to keep banquet costs reasonable, which will include a uniquely delicious catered meal and complimentary wine (additional available for purchase) at Frederick Cellars, thanks to a generous stipend from the region.
If you have any questions, contact Ellen (ellen@bexstr.com) or Bob (silber_pfeile@yahoo.com). Please note that drive-up registrations will not be accepted this year. We apologize up front, but we must have a solid head count for the caterer and we must know the number and types of cars for staging at the Concours and Car Show. If you cannot register and want to spectate at the Concours that morning, you will be directed to park in the lots behind Shab Row- you will NOT be able to park on the street or in the Concours or Car Show paddocks. Deadline for entry is Monday, September 21st and no kidding!
