Slotcar Night 2008
Date: Saturday, January 19Time: Set-up begins at 3:00 pm and the racing will start at 5:00 pm. We should be done between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm
Where: Pinewood Elementary School in Timonium, MD (see directions below)
Cost: $10 per person or $20 for an entire family. (FREE if you bring a pot of chili!)
Registration: Manny Alban has graciously offered to handle registration again this year. Send email to Manny at CarreraDos@aol.com with your name, who is coming, ages of children attending, and what you would like to bring. Manny will coordinate the food.
Info: The paddocks are closed, the cars are in storage, and the helmets are
hanging empty. Depression sets in. But wait! There is life in the
emptiness of winter! Come to the annual Chesapeake Region Slot Car
Night and get your driving fix. We may even let the kids drive this
year. (Kidding of course - this is a family event.)
This year's annual Slot Car Night will be held on Saturday, January
19th and will be returning to Pinewood Elementary School in Timonium,
MD. Setup begins at 3:00 PM and racing for the kids classes begins at
5:00 PM. So pack up the family and your 1/32 scale slotcars and come
to our annual indoor racing event. There will be plenty of action,
great racing, and trophies for the winners.
We are anticipating the traditional famous Five Alarm Chesapeake Region
Chili along with hot dogs and side dishes that participants bring. In
order to keep the entry fee to a minimum, we're asking everyone to
bring something. It'll either be a large bag of chips, pretzels or
doritos, juice, two liters of soda or water. For those of you bringing
a crockpot of chili, your entry is FREE!!! When you register, please
make sure to include an email or phone number so that Manny, this
year's registrar, can reach you regarding what you will be bringing.
Of course, no alcohol of any kind is allowed. When you RSVP, tell us
what you would like to bring, and we'll be okay as long as we don't
have too many others already bringing the same thing. This way we won't
have 40 bags of Doritos.
There will be races for 1/32 scale cars only - there will be no
HO scale racing this year. This year we will have classes for Scalextric, Fly, Modified, and Trucks.
The cost for this night of fun is $10 per person or only $20 for an
entire family - far less than a night at the movies.
Hope to see you there!

FAQ:
Are kids invited?
Of course! This is a family event. We just ask that the parents keep an eye on their kids as the slot car equipment is very expensive and you will be responsible to replace any parts that are broken.
Will trophies be awarded?
Yes.
Are there kids and adults classes?
Yes, since the kids beat the adults so often, we've decided to give the adults a chance and put them in a separate class. This will make it easier to guarantee we have enough trophies for all the youngsters.
Which races will we have this year?
We'll have the usual elimination rounds and the Enduro will return with teams of four people with pit stops and driver changes. The hotly contested 1/32 "Supertruck" event event will return this year giving Ron Kruger and Andrew Toth a chance to put Tim Eisel in his place. This year we will have a Modified class, so bring your budget-buster.
How much can I modify my slot car?
This year we are adding a modified class, which will include cars with ANY modifications. To run in the Scalectric, Fly, and Truck classes, you can only race a 100% bone stock car to include STOCK TIRES. No sticky tires, folks. The word of our Chief Steward and Chief Scrutineer will be final.
Where can I find out more?
You can read about last year's event.
