Cambridge, MD A week of beautiful weather was capped of by several thunderstorms that soaked the area the night before several members ventured out to brave the threatening skies and enjoy a great day of driving and seeing the birds, flowers and fauna of the Blackwater wild life refuge.
Chesapeake member Rob Vigorito (an avid runner and cyclist) led the tour in his Cayenne-S. Several scenic stops along route allowed for plenty of pictures being snapped and a young bald eagle was spotted feeding in one of the habitats feeding stands. Robert informed us the refuge has over 70 known mating pairs of bald eagles. Many other birds and wild life was seen by the member who participated.
One of the stops along the route was a refreshment break at the Woolford country store that excited all the locals who came out to see all of the cars on display. One local commented. Just not every day we get to see a dozen Porsches parked out in front of the store. The group finished off the day in the new Hyatt Regency Golf resort restaurant for a scrumptious lunch. By mid afternoon, all our tanks were re-filled and we all used that little extra horse power to beat the returning beach traffic across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
