President's Message

Hello again fellow Porschefilles,

I hope all of you are getting through this wonderful “winter” weather we’re having. I can honestly say I’ve seen more Porsches on the road this December and January then I think I've ever seen in my life. I hope everyone is keeping their cars on the road in anticipation of the spring driving season that’s right around the corner.

The board will be meeting this week to sure up the events schedule for 2007. Please check the website often to keep up with the dates.

For all of you that were able to attend, we once again had a wonderful “After Holiday Party”. Thanks very much to Ellen Beck and to all the people who help here. The gift swapping/stealing was wonderful as usual. All in all its just great to see everyone having fun and enjoying each other's company. I realize that the date conflicted with the Raven’s playoff, and I want to thank those of you who gave up watching the game at home and came out instead. If you missed this years party, I hope you plan on making it next year since this is one of the regions premier events.

We also had the annual Slot Car Night this past weekend and it too was a wonderful event. The turnout was fabulous and the region raised nearly $850 to be donated to The House of Ruth. A special thanks to Andrew Toth and Manny Alban for chairing the event. Also thanks to Drew Hollingsworth for drumming up the sponsorship and donating a couple of slot cars to the raffle. Once again we were pleased to have the folks from The Toy Chest there so the people that “needed” new cars were able to purchase them at a discounted price. The region is also very grateful to Sloan and the guys from SSI for donating the funds for us to rent the tables and pitching in some gift certificates for the raffle as well. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all the folks that brought their chili concoctions. The variety was endless and each was as good as the other.
The auto cross season will be starting up soon so if you need a little brush up or are a beginner and need some lessons don’t forget to sign up for the school that will be held at the start of the season. Its lots of fun and you might just learn something about car control!!

Don’t forget to volunteer when you can!! I hope to see you at an event soon!!
