President's Message
On Saturday, January 10, the Helmuth Bott Memorial Archive was dedicated at PCA National Headquarters in Springfield. Dr. Bott had a long and very successful career at Porsche, which began in 1952 and ended with his retirement in 1988. Early in his career, Bott worked tirelessly to refine the steering in Porsches, resulting in improved handling, cornering, and ride comfort. His constant quest for perfection is evident in the Porsches we drive today.
The archive includes a wide range of photos, engineering drawings, trophies and other bits of Bott memorabilia. As you can imagine, there was no shortage of organizations that were interested in this collection. The fact that PCA was chosen by Doris Bott, wife of the late Dr. Bott, as the caretakers of this valuable library is a testament to the quality and the spirit of PCA.
As PCA members, you have access to this wealth of information whether for study of just general interest. PCA Headquarters are located at 8003 Forbes Place, Suite 310, Springfield, VA 22150. You can call the National office at 703.321.2111 for hours. I highly recommend you take some time to view this fine collection and enjoy the rich heritage of Porsche.
Andrew
